Enjoy the tastes and sights of Vietnam with this 5 day trip. From capital city of Hanoi to emerald water bay of Halong up to green mountains of Mai Chau and down to rustic country of Ninh Binh, each day of your tour is filled with interesting sights and tastes. Our friendly and knowledgeable guide will also help you to reveal the hidden charms of Vietnam.
Day 1: Hanoi capital city (L, D)
Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, the city of thousand years history blended with a very hustle dynamic modern life. You will get picked up from the airport and transferred downtown to hotel for check in.
Lunch with Vietnamese specialties at a local restaurant and in the afternoon we will start sightseeing to the Temple of Literature – the Vietnam’s first university established during the construction of the capital then visiting to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (view outside), and his former residence, his impressive house-on-stilts, the fish pond.
After this we will go to the Old Quarter for sightseeing the Hoan Kiem Lake (restore sword lake) with Ngoc Son temple and enjoy water puppet show before enjoy your dinner by a fascinating walking tour that will introduce to you some of Vietnam’s finest authentic street foods. Walking through narrow streets and small alleys in the Old Quarter is the great chance for you to learn about the local daily life, taking photos and shopping at thousands shops…. Led by your local guide and hear stories of the ingredients and history of Hanoi’s food culture and sample Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The menu has been chosen together between you and the guide from the lunch time and we will start with some light food such as fried sour spring rolls, crispy Hanoi “pillow” dumplings, varieties of sticky rice, yoghurt with fermented wild rice … and finish the food tour at a nice coffee shop famous with the “egg coffee” in the Old Quarter. Overnight in hotel in Hanoi centre.
Day 2: Halong Bay World Heritage (B, L)
Depart Hanoi at 8.00AM for the 3.5-hour scenic drive to Halong Bay. Journey there through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta, observe everyday life of Vietnamese villagers as they work the rice fields, take pigs to the market on motorbikes and plough the fields with their water buffaloes.
Dubbed as one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the natural wonder Halong Bay is a huge body of emerald water that dotted with thousands of limestone islands of special shapes that formed by winds and waves through millions of years. The place was twice recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage for its exceptional natural and cultural values.
Board the wooden junk and enjoy sumptuous fresh seafood lunch as you wind your way through spectacular bay of dramatic islands, floating villages and mirror like water. Enjoy swimming bay in the turquoise water in the middle of quiet and visit to a huge lime stone cave that filled with beautiful stalagmite and stalactites. Get back to the quay at 4.00PM and there the vehicle will be waiting for you to take you back to Hanoi; arrival time will be in the early evening. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: Mai Chau Valley (B, L, D)
Leave Hanoi and drive through spectacular country and mountain sceneries to Mai Chau, a beautiful green valley home to beautiful White Thai minority villages, approx 150km from Hanoi. This is a great place to enjoy natural beauty and observe traditional hill tribe culture and life style that is well preserved.
After a home lunch, take a light trek around the valley through villages for sightseeing, visit local homes, enjoy local interaction and perhaps join with locals at their farm work. The rest of afternoon is for your relax by the fish pond with a dink or just simply wander more around your village of home stay for further sightseeing.
Excellent home dinner will be served along with some local rice whiskey before you take part in a traditional dance and music performance. Overnight home stay in a local house on stilts.
Day 4: Ninh Binh rustic country and karst landscapes (B, L)
Scenic drive through the lush paddy fields and jagged limestone escarpments of the region to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc, sometimes known as the ‘Halong of the rice fields’. Visit ancient temples dedicates to great Kings of the Dinh and the Early Le Dynasties from 10th and 11th centuries and take a rowing boat trip along dramatic karst formation through the labyrinth of caves, tunnels and emerald streams for a fascinating visit before returning to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 5: Hanoi Departure (B)
Today is departure day. Enjoy some free time for last purchases or simply relax before your transfer the airport for your flight home. Safe travel!
