OVERVIEW
Le Cochinchine is a modern and tastefully designed river barge. Built in traditional style, Le Cochinchine measures around 30 meters long from bow to stern and has two 420 HP engines, one in back up, making Le Cochinchine a very powerful and safe river vessel.
FULL ITINERARY
7 DAYS 6 NIGHTS
DAY 1: SAIGON – CAI BE – BINH HOA PHUOC ISLAND – CHO LACH – BEN TRE (L, D)
8h15 A.M: Pick-up at your hotel in Saigon and transfer you to our pier in Cai Be.
10h30-11h00 A.M: Reach the banks of the Mekong Delta in Cai Be. Embark on Cochinchine boat and enjoy a welcome drink. The boat departs to Ben Tre while you have leisure time to enjoy landscape.
Lunch on board.
Arrive in Ben Tre walking around the local market, Visit the Thoi Son Island, walk through the island, sampling native fruits viewing local handicraft production and meeting the local people. Then take a brief cruise ride through the palm-shaded creeks.
Back to Le Cochinchine boat. Diner & overnight on board.
DAY 2: BEN TRE – MY THO (B, L, D)
Rising up early for another nice day we contemplate sunrise while having breakfast on board.
Take a local boat trip and get over Tien River to the other side (Ben Tre land). Sight-seeing fish farms, floating market along the Dragon Island on the way.
Through Xep canal in Ben Tre (coconut land) to see coconut collection sets and how the local people make handicrafts from coconut trunk and shell. Enjoy seasonal fruits and listen to traditional music.
Take the horse-carriage on village path and stop at Mr Ba Phat orchard, taste honey with tea or wine. See bees-breeding in wooden boxes.
Take rowing-boat along canal under two rows of water coconut. Boat to coconut candy workshop to taste coconut candy (local special product) and visit how to make coconut candy step by step.
Come back to the boat to have lunch.
In the afternoon, you have your leisure time on board to relax and contemplate scenery of village along the river.
Dinner and overnight on boat.
DAY 3: MY THO – NGU HIEP – CAI BE – TRA ON (B, L, D)
Breakfast on board while our boat sets sail torward Ngu Hiep Island.
Embark on lovely morning cycling or walk amongst the verdant villages and meet with people. A unique opportunity to meet with inhabitants, get a glimpse at their daily activities, and become more familiar with the life in the Delta.
Leisurely laze on the upper deck as the boat cruises down Tien River, delighting in the scenery.
Lunch on board while the barge sails down Co Chien River then process onto Mang Thit River.
Embark on a pleasant walk or cycle on the footpaths of the countryside to discover tropical fruit orchards and local people's daily activities.
Leisurely cruise on the Mekong River while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Dinner and overnight on board.
DAY 4: TRA ON – CAN THO – BINH THUY (B, L, D)
Breakfast on board. The morning bobbling commotion of Mekong river life comes to life for another lovely day. Our boat sets sails to Can Tho through tributaries, canals and arroyos.
Transfer to Cai Rang by local boat, one of the most bustling and important floating markets in the whole Mekong Delta.
Sliding on tiny waterways between palm-shaded banks, the local boat leads you to see green orchards, local houses, ship building yards, rural and river activities in full swing and enjoy tropical fruits.
Back to Cochinchine boat then lunch is served on board. The river barge continues toward Binh Thuy. Embark on a pleasant walk on the footpaths of the countryside to visit Binh Thuy ancient house, the house is not only attractive because of its design which combines Vietnamese and French architecture, but also due to its wonderful garden with various flowers and fruits.
Boarding back and leisurely cruise the river. Savor foot massage on board with a pre-dinner drink over the sunset.
The boat continues to Long Xuyen while you enjoy the beautiful scenery. Dinner and overnight on board.
DAY 5: LONG XUYEN – SA DEC (B, L, D)
Breakfast on boat.
Explore the long Xuyen market one of the most bustling floating markets in Mekong Delta with hundreds of small boats barging and jostling for space as owners attempt to sell their goods.
Visit the Ong Ho Island – a small island by the Mekong River enjoy the scenery and walk/cycle to visit villages the island, see local farmers trade their produce on the water as they have done for centuries. You will have a unique opportunity to discover a side of Delta life that few travelers experience.
The boat sets sails through the canals of Lap Vo with a magnificent landscape that come along the river banks: rural walks, farming, nursering farm, fishing, and boating, smiling school children all in full swing. Embark to explore blossoming bonsai and flowers garden and Cao Dai temple.
Enjoy the aperitif on the sun desk and taking in view of the river. Diner while cruising toward Sa Dec.
Our boat drops anchor for the night. Overnight on board.
DAY 6: SA DEC – VINH LONG – CAI BE (B, L, D)
Rising up early for another nice day. We contemplate sunrise while having breakfast on board.
A small boat takes us to visit the Sa Dec local market, and ancient house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the 'lover' of Marguerite Duras, a famous French novelist. Visit bricks and tiles kilns and the manufacture of earthenware pots on a bank of river.
Back to boat and enjoy welcome back drink while lunch is served.
Afternoon, we take a boat ride to visit Binh Hoa Phuoc with opportunity to marvel at beautiful islands with waterway and arroyos. We enjoy the lush vegetation while cycling across the island and meet with people and get insight into local life.
Return on boat with a rest on the deck enjoying the sunset on sundeck.
Diner and overnight on board.
DAY 7: CAI BE – SAIGON (B)
Breakfast on the boat.
Taking a morning junk trip to Dong Hoa Hiep Island and go ashore to visit the French Gothic Cathedral and colorful port area, with its colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens and local coconut candy and rice paper manufacturers.
Visit the former Imperial residence the traditional House, where surviving members of the Kiet family will welcome us with tea, and we can wander in the fruit orchards around the house.
Get off at Cai Be pier at 11:00 A.M. Transfer you back to Saigon, you will be dropped-off at your hotel around 2:00 P.M. End of our services.
3 NIGHTS 2 DAYS
DAY 1: SAIGON – CAI BE – MY THUAN – CAI THIA – SA DEC (L, D)
8h15 A.M: Pick-up at your hotel in Saigon and transfer you to our pier in Cai Be.
10h30-11h00 A.M: reach the banks of the Mekong Delta in Cai Be. You embark on Le Cochinchine with a welcome drink.
We take a morning junk trip to Dong Hoa Hiep Island to explore evergreen islands and visit the former Imperial residence the traditional House, where surviving members of the Kiet family will welcome us with tea, and we can wander in the fruit orchards around the house. Then, go ashore to visit the French Gothic Cathedral and colorful port area, with its colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens and local coconut candy and rice paper manufacturers.
Our boat sets sails toward Sa Dec while lunch is served.
We take small boat to visit bricks and tiles kilns and the manufacture of earthenware pots on a bank of river. Then go to the heart of Sa Dec town to visit the Sa Dec local market, following the tracks of French novelist Marguerite Duras. Walk/ Cycle amongst the ever blossoming Sa Dec flower village and local industries.
Return on boat with a rest on the deck enjoying the sunset on sundeck, experience a traditional herbal foot massage before enjoying an exotic pre-dinner drink.
Cruise down the Tien River, while dinner is served on board.
Overnight on board.
DAY 2: BINH HOA PHUOC ISLAND - CHO LACH – MY THO (B, L, D)
Rising up early for another nice day we contemplate sunrise while having breakfast on board.
We take a morning junk trip along the banks of the Binh Hoa Phuoc peninsula to explore evergreen islands.
Embark on a lovely cycling excursion on the peninsula browsing several verdant villages. Visit of the bonsais gardens and orchards, local houses and ample opportunity meet with people and get insight into Delta life.
Boarding back, complimentary drink as a welcome back on board.
Arrive in Ben Tre walking around the local market, Visit the Thoi Son Island, walk through the island, sampling native fruits viewing local handicraft production and meeting the local people. Then take a brief cruise ride through the palm-shaded creeks
Overnight on boat.
DAY 3: BEN TRE - NGU HIEP – CAI BE – SAIGON (B, L)
Breakfast on board while our boat sets sail torward Ngu Hiep Island.
Embark on lovely morning cycling or walk amongst the verdant villages and meet with people. A unique opportunity to meet with inhabitants, get a glimpse at their daily activities, and become more familiar with the life in the Delta.
Leisurely laze on the upper deck as the boat cruises down Tien River, delighting in the scenery.
Slide on small waterways, you head back to Cai Be harbor. The cruise concludes around 11h00 A.M. Lunch at Café du Mekong
Pick up and return to Saigon. Drop off at your hotel. The trip concludes.
2 DAYS 1 NIGHT
DAY 1: SAIGON – CAI BE – MANG THIT – TRA ON (L, D)
8:00-8:30 A.M: Pick up at your hotel in HCM City and transfer you to Mekong.
10:30-11:00 A.M: Welcome you at our Cai Be pier. Take a local boat for an extensive visit of Cai Be: the floating market, the mazes of waterway, local pop-rice and sweets production. Visit of colonial buildings, old houses, delightful flower gardens and local coconut candy and rice paper manufacturers.
11:30-12:00: Join on board Le Cochinchine and enjoy a welcome drink. Lunch is served on board as the barge sails down Co Chien River then process onto Mang Thit River.

DAY 2: TRA ON – CAN THO – SAIGON (B)
A lovely new day begins on Mekong River. Waking up early allows you to admire the sunrise on the Mekong with bubbling activities of local people. Breakfast on board while the boat sails to Can Tho through tributaries, canals and arroyos.
Check-out Le Cochinchine boat, say “goodbye” to our friendly staff, we transfer you by small boat for visit of Cai Rang, one of the most bustling floating markets in the whole Mekong Delta. The Cai Rang floating market is known as a high-light cannot be missed when you explore the Western rivers of Vietnam.
The local boat slides on tiny waterways between palm-shaded banks, you have the chance to see green orchards, local houses, ship building yards, and rural activities in full swing. The sampan takes you to an ancient house to visit the orchard and enjoy tropical fruit.
Return to the small boat and get off at 11:00 A.M in Can Tho .
Transfer back to HCM City, you will be dropped off at your hotel around 2:30-3:00 P.M. End of nice cruise.
